Find the best HCM clips
Using the HCM Clip List

The HCM Clip List is a clever database tool that helps you find & download new clips:
  1. First, learn to search & download clips using DC by reading Share Clips.
  2. Second, learn about the HCM Clip List by reading below.
  3. Third, click Find Clips to start searching.

Here are some great example searches.

1) What the HCM Clip List can do
  1. List clips that you don't have already
  2. Identify real HCM Clips & avoid off-topic clips
  3. Find clips missing from your favourite series
  4. Delete duplicates & save your disk (even if they have different names)

2) How the HCM Clip List works
  1. The HCM Clip List is a search-able database loaded with file lists from DC++ (video clips only) so you can search even when members are offline.
  2. It matches YOUR list against other members to help you find new clips.
  3. An HCM% score highlights clips most likely to be real HCM. This is based on members filing them under a folder named '\hcm\'.
  4. Unique clips are identified by their Tiger Tree Hash (TTH) - therefore you can see clips by their alternative names (aliases) & avoid downloading duplicates.

3) Using the main search page

a) Click the Search for clips button to search by:
  1. Clip Name (file name)
  2. Folder in which it is stored
  3. Sharer (member)
  4. HCM% range (e.g. 50-100%) - chance of it being real HCM
  5. Number of sharers - to identify popular clips
  6. Clip Size - to find small clips for modem users etc.
  7. Date Added to the Clip List - to search newer clips only

b) Alternatively, enter your own name (& other search terms) & click the missing clips button to list clips missing from your DC++ file-list.

c) To download a single clip (using DC++ search facility), click on the Clip Name or thumbnail. To download a group of clips, click Generate your personal Download Queue for DC++ on the missing clips page.

d) Click the duplicates button to list clips that you have more than once so you can delete them & save disk space.

e) Click on Aliases to list a clip's alternative names. Click on Sharers to list members sharing that clip.

Hey that's great news...just let me know if you need more info or some tips and tricks...

...its certainly a lot more clever than a simple file search and browse in DC !!!

Hi Nick, it shows me within a few moments what I am looking for, but as soon as I click on our DC icon a search field for the magnet link appears. I thus ultimately come to the Hub in the search area. But then nothing happens, am I doing something wrong? My "Find Clips" parameters were: from:100%, more than 10 users & all participants. Thanks, GI

So you get to search but get no results. Either nobody has that clip or search is not working. Your parameters are irrelevant as they determine the search results and you had some.

So check search works in DC. If it doesn't it is a problem with UDP port. If you have a router and downloads work I suspect you didn't set up the UDP port properly.

I need to know more info....

Hi, Nick:

Some info as per wished-

The search function is working on DC. Yes, I have a router, the downloads are working fine. I donīt what U mean by UDP port. I did have aprob yesterday with Vbedcam clips.
As soon as I had them downloaded & clicked the downloads area, everything vanished on the desktops (I mean the icons) & reappeared again after a few secs. All the downloaded stuff was still there.

By the way, I I got new word pro, as I was getting aruntime error message from the windows too.

I got a list of the clips I am loving to see & checking under the search function on our Hbu, it is working fine.

Big thanks, GI
